What Happens If the Internet Drops? (Failsafe Mode)

Do I Need Internet to Start?

No. You do not need an active internet connection to start a task. Maps are stored locally on the sensor and will work in layer of Realtime operation.

How Does “Failsafe” Work?

The system is designed to ensure operation using multiple layers. The priority is:

  1. Real-time: The sensor uses live data (if visibility is good).

  2. Satellite (Newest): If the sensor is blinded (dust/sun), the latest satellite map is used.

  3. Satellite (Old): Without internet, it checks for satellite maps from the last 14 days.

  4. Zone Map: If nothing else is available, the system falls back to the historical zone map (yield potential).

Exception: RTK GPS requires a stable internet connection to receive correction signals.

What Do We Use the Internet For?

The sensor uses the internet to send maps from the sensor to the PerPlant cloud so operations can be viewed in the “Field App.”
